Games Testing
Games Testing
So, for this weeks reading, I have been reading up on "Game Testing" Or "Play Testing". This is when a person plays a game for the sole purpose of finding bugs, or to discover new tings to add to a game to make it better. However, not all play testing is done by people. Unity has a program that allows developers to have an Ai or computer run the game through multiple scenarios to discover say imbalances or bugs that will need tweaking. This tool is great as an example given said, the game studio "Furion" used this program to help with the weapon balancing of their game. It was able to give new balanced data for the whole weapon system in just three days, compared to if people did it, it could take up to 600 hours of work. So its obviously a great time saving tool. It is recommended that as a developer you start to play test your game as soon as its playable. Thankfully I have been doing this with my own game as what can happen is if you develop a whole game and its completely broken. It can sometimes mean having to spend hours upon hours going back trying to fix bugs.
